About

Born in Hong Kong and raised in London, Magnus Allan graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Art History.

Magnus Allan (British-Swedish, b. 1999) is a self-represented photographer specializing in urban, documentary, and landscape photography. His work primarily documents neglected urban sites and architectural minutiae that are subject to the decay that follows social conflict, industrial expansion, and rapid urbanization. By preserving a forgotten space in an image, he creates a wistful photographic elegy to past inhabitation and the distinct experience of that space over time. Much like how ancient cave paintings capture evidence of human presence and intervention, these detailed studies of urban environments explore the idea that behind every wall is a story that is visible yet rarely revealed.
